Sidewalks are the concrete paths that acts as a border and a walkway. Runners, walkers, and everyone in between uses them, yet we never seem to really notice them unless they are broken down or freshly repaired. However, their psychological impact is just as important as their physical. Without explicitly saying so, sidewalks encourage walking, helping promote healthier lifestyles and gives people an urge to get active. For parks, they dictate where people are allowed, helping to keep them safe and also allowing for nature and the area beyond the sidewalk to remain undisturbed. Well maintained sidewalks also allow for more accessibility, leaving them available for use to those with mobility challenges or using assistive devices. Everyone should be able to use the park to the fullest, and sidewalk improvements can help make it so that it is as inclusive as it is enjoyable.
The City of Westland, Michigan wants to do some work on Cayley Park and are looking for proposals from experienced and qualified vendors for professional services related to sidewalk improvements. Specifications include furnishing and installing a concrete base and rough grade existing soils and excavated materials to match the new asphalt elevations. These improvements look to improve the quality of life of park goers and promote the park itself. The park is home to an extravagant playground perfect for children and families, and also contains picnic areas to lounge and enjoy each other's company. Although beautiful, Westland is always seeking to improve, and with the rising popularity of the park the less flashy and obvious aspects of the park need to be held to the same standard as the main attractions.
